PENNYSMASH is a brand new Souvenir Shop project that hijacks the familiar souvenir penny press to produce truly affordable works of art.  Visitors to the Gladstone Hotel in Downtown Toronto can purchase original works by Douglas Coupland, Marian Bantjes (above), Burton Kramer and Paul Butler.  Partial proceeds from every sale will go to Sketch: Toronto’s art studio for street youth.

this morning on my way to work i noticed a short little man smoking a cigarette and chugging on a super big gulp...  it's so good to know that people are still going for the SUPER big gulp, not just the regular big gulp!  i couldn't help but think of summertime back in the day when we laid on the beach consuming nothing but sugar...    and for a moment i thought maybe this guys was embracing the freakishly nice summer weather here today.  but wait, at 9am?  the sun hasn't even kissed the sidewalks of downtown.   i think it was just another regular day for him...

happy friday

buy your man an axe!

best made company's mission statement (i love it!):

NOTHING WITHOUT AN AXE:

Every high-rise condo, luxury office, executive suite, ranch house, and farmstead must have an axe in it. We know that axes shouldn’t only be in the hands of lumberjacks: anyone and everyone should have an axe in their name. Put it in your cubicle, give it to your niece as a graduation present, or your dad for father's day (or better yet mom for mother's day), bring it to the company picnic, carry it to the door next time Jehovah's Witness come knocking, or just lean it up against your living room wall and admire. An axe is indispensable and sublime, the epitome of self-reliance and independence, a perfect design object, a timeless instrument.
